What is the difference between Videography and Cinematography?

Simply put, Cinematography is the art of capturing images during the creation of motion pictures. In the past, artists working as cinematographers generally relied almost exclusively on cameras that captured footage on film, but over time, video capture technology has become more advanced, and as a result, many films are also made with high-definition digital cameras and other similar devices. The main focus of cinematography is capturing images for movies that are both beautiful and powerful in the way they drive narrative. The abilities needed in the field of cinematography are somewhat similar to those needed in still photography, but there are also many differences. The camera and the actors often move around while a shot is being captured, so lighting across a whole scene and manipulation of the camera during moving sequences are both crucially important aspects. There are also many tools, such as camera dollies, that a cinematographer must fully understand, and these things aren't used in still photography. This results in absolutely stunning imagery - the difference is obvious.

  • FAQ's

How long does it take before I receive the final product? - It typically takes anywhere from 8-12 weeks to complete editing on your video. It might take a little longer depending on the "busy" season. We take careful time and effort to make it perfect, so we hope you don't mind the long editing time! In our off season (from November-early March), this is closer to 8 weeks. In our busy season, it can take up to 12 weeks or longer to complete each film.

Can I get the raw footage? - If you want the raw footage, you are more than welcome to, just ask! Although it isn't automatically included with our packages, if you ask, we would be more than happy to do this for you! We record on SD cards and in Quicktime movie format encoded at h.264. When editing, we convert the footage to Apple's Pro Res format for editing and output. If you want the raw footage, it will be delivered in the Quicktime h.264 format. A typical Wedding will take up to around 40-65 (or more) Gigabytes of space. We would be happy to copy the files for you at no charge as long as you provide us with either an external hard drive or external USB flash drives for this purpose. If you would like it on BluRay discs, there is a flat $300 charge to burn and transfer these files to disc for you.

How is your billing process, and do you accept credit cards? - We know you have lots of other vendors to pay for and it can get to feel overwhelming. If you want to pay it all at once, you certainly can, however we give you the option to have 2 payments. The first is your non-refundable deposit in the amount of 1/2 of your total package. This is due upon booking and reserving your date. The next and final payment is due one week before your Wedding. This is due one week before so that the funds have time to clear before we arrive to film. You also have the option of choosing to do a payment plan. With our payment plans, everything must be paid in full no later than 1 week before the wedding. We accept all major forms of credit cards as well. We also accept cash or check.
